Mayor's doing OK, council low in poll

Pollster Al Soltow notes the mayor has more support among liberals and moderates than conservatives

Mayor Bill LaFortune has a 60 percent job approval rating while only 33.8 percent of Tulsa voters approve of the City Council's performance, the latest Oklahoma Poll shows.

When respondents were asked whether they approve or disapprove of the way LaFortune is doing his job, 60 percent said they approve, 29.4 percent disapprove and 10.6 percent didn't know or refused to answer.

"It's interesting to note that the mayor has greater support among liberals and moderates than conservatives," said poll consultant Al Soltow, adding that all groups showed a majority of support.
