Newcomer hits poll's worry list

Immigration soars to No. 2 on the ranking of Oklahomans' concerns, after education, the perennial leader.

Education remains the No. 1 issue for Oklahoma voters, according to the most recent Oklahoma Poll, but immigration has rocketed past such long-standing concerns as the economy, jobs and roads to No. 2 on the list.

"When you consider that prior to June 2005, immigration wasn't even on the radar, it's a pretty dramatic change," said the poll's consultant, Al Soltow, the vice president for research at the University of Tulsa.
