Henry holds wide lead in state poll

The governor was favored by 68 percent to Ernest Istook's 25 percent.

Gov. Brad Henry started his re-election campaign far ahead of Republican Ernest Istook and appears to be pulling away, according to the most recent Oklahoma Poll.

More than 68 percent of 500 likely voters, surveyed statewide Oct. 19-23, said they intend to vote for the Democratic incumbent in the Nov. 7 general election. More than 80 percent approved of Henry's job performance, the highest rating in the nearly 14 years the poll has been conducted.
